Needle and Thread v
Soundtrack: Rufus Wainwright – Poses
I have been incredibly busy with my uni-work over the past few weeks. Luckily this week will, hopefully, see the last of the stress, and the rest of the semester will go by at a more normal pace. My hands, as well as my head, have not been idle, however.
Here is some of the - almost - finished sleeve for my new jumper:
I'm sorry for the darkness in this photo, it looked so much lighter on the tiny camera screen... somehow.
This one is a bit blurry, but I chose to add it because it shows off how well all the colours in the Scappa Yarns go together! The yarn smells wonderfully sheepy. Fair Isle knitting is new to me, and I have to say that so far my experience with it has been pure joy. It is such a creative and fun process putting the different colours together and managing to keep the different stripes in the chart unique. I like to think that this'll be my little part of Scotland to bring back home when I finish my studies here, since it's both knit using Scottish yarns and a Scottish technique. The pattern I'm using is this one, Pop Isle, from Edinburgh-based designer and owner of K1 Yarns, Katharine Walker.
And here's a shot of the ribbing, which I think is so much easier to get even and nice when using the magic loop method; what do you think?
