Photography and Knits by Elise Sophie

norwegian flowers, books in a stack on the bedside table, cups of tea, films with lots of swearing, pincushions shaped as mushrooms, cats with big hearts, friends with many names and flavours, music with a lot of dimensions, knitting needles that mysteriously disappear, and yarn. lots of yarn.

index finger

Soundtrack: Edith Piaf – Monsieur St. Pierre

When I'm writing essays I usually knit a lot as well, as a treat, but also to create something that is literally tangible, something that I can see I'm making progress on. Essay writing involves so much independent thinking and scribbling that at times it feels like I'm not making any progress, or have anything to show for all my hours of devoted typing and reading. Knitting is lovely hobby to pair with essay writing, it grows and shapes itself into something of practical use for me, or for someone else.

My right index finger has now acquired a row of tiny holes as a result of my essay writing, or rather, knitting obsessively in between writing sessions.

My latest project, a couple of weeks ago:

Stay tuned for photos of the finished object.

columbines

Soundtrack: William Tyler – The Green Pastures

I took a closer look at this photograph and realised that it is kind of like a dream. The colours seem fleeting, but they are at the same time very evocative. Brings me back to late-summer days, and the smell of rain in the grass.

Mamma

Soundtrack: Rod Stewart – My Foolish Heart

I miss digging in the ground, conversing, walking, watching Jane Austen-films, listening to the radio, making chutneys and jams, getting encouragement from, dancing, and just being, with my mum.

a personal favourite

Soundtrack: The Boswell Sisters – The Object Of My Affection

So here's one of my personal favourites from the last roll. I was making red currant jelly (would you be interested in a recipe?), and as I was cleaning up afterwards, I noticed a single pansy had fallen into the kitchen sink, quite artistically, and snip-snap here-you-go. Happy weekend!

Analog

I am taking pictures with my grandfathers old analog camera. I love waiting for the film to develop! Did the pictures turn out good, bad? Taking pictures has lost some of its charm after the digital cameras took over. We can look at the photo immediately after it was taken, and decide to delete it if it isn't perfect. With a film-roll we can't do that, and the not-so-perfect picture is stuck on paper, and we have to physically destroy the photo to get rid of it, and that's harder to do, right?
I've been looking for inspiration, and here's some of my favourite finds:
